Carbon Steel Press Fittings

In addition to the Europress range of stainless steel pipe fittings, you can also buy carbon steel press fittings and carbon steel tubes from Air Energy. Both are manufactured from the same material (typically E195 or E235) which conforms to Standard EN 10305 with a choice of O-Rings for chemical suitability.

Carbon Steel Press Fittings

These carbon steel press fittings are generally used in industrial and civil constructions that don’t specifically require stainless steel fittings and piping. While they are used primarily for oil and diesel fuel lines, they can also be used for other applications such as:

  • Closed circuit heating and cooling water systems
  • Compressed air and inert gas systems
  • Closed circuit sprinkler systems

The O-ring gaskets used in the pipework and fittings are heat, age and chemical additive resistant and so can be used safely with any type of treated water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are a few important differences between the Push-fit and press-fit fittings.

Professional equipment

Professionals prefer press fit. Push-fit fittings are primarily targeted at DIYers, handymen, and home builders.

Less expensive

In general, press fittings are less expensive than push-fit fittings. Of course, a pressing tool costs, but savings quickly offset this on fittings.

More sizes and products

Press fit comes in sizes ranging from 12" to 4". Most push-fit fittings have a maximum size of 2". More than 800 CTS configurations with various alloys and sealing materials are available from press-fit manufacturers than from push-fit manufacturers.

More Applications

Push-fit fittings are only suitable for use with hard copper and a number of different types of plastic piping. Copper tube and stainless press fittings are compatible, and PureFlow fittings are designed for PEX, but Viega also makes MegaPress fittings for other metals, including carbon steel.

The press fitting connections are safe. The connection is as strong as a welded or soldered connection as long as the pipe is correctly prepared according to the press tool system manufacturer's instructions.
